120 Pages – Print & Interactive PDF
The NHS Barking & Dagenham Primary Care Trust, in partnership with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, commissioned me at short notice to design and oversee print production for a substantial annual report. The 120-page document featured complex content, including numerous tables and infographics, a text-linked glossary and an extensive system of footnotes.
Following a setback with a previous designer, they were faced with a tight timeline. I delivered the print files and hyperlinked PDF within one week, ensuring all requirements were met to a high standard.
The brief specified a restrained use of photos, with the cover imagery reflecting diversity. The final design balanced accessibility and visual cohesion, and was met with great satisfaction by all stakeholders.
Bellwether Report and Infographics
The FT–ICSA Boardroom Bellwether is a twice-yearly governance and business sentiment report surveying FTSE 350 company secretaries to uncover how UK boards are responding to economic conditions and corporate governance issues. Produced in partnership with the The Financial Times and ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute, the publication translated complex survey data into accessible insights for business leaders, investors and governance professionals.
I designed eight editions of the report. A major focus of the project was infographic design – transforming large volumes of survey data into clear visual story telling. Each report combined editorial design with bespoke charts, diagrams and data visualisations that helped communicate trends and key findings at a glance.
Alongside the printed publication, the infographics were adapted for websites and social media channels. The project required careful consideration of hierarchy, accessibility and cross-platform consistency, ensuring the graphics remained effective in print, PDF and online environments alike.
By Chris Glennie – Print & ePub Book
Chris Glennie commissioned me to design the print and ePub editions of Looking for America, a 366-page travel journal exploring personal journeys through US history. The project required careful typographic planning to ensure a consistent layout across both hardcover print and digital formats, with seamless navigation in the ePub version.
I developed a clean design that balanced long-form text with supporting illustrations, adapting the layout for Kindle compatibility while preserving the integrity of the print edition. All illustrations were supplied as greyscale scans. I colourised the cover to bring it to life. The final result is a book that works just as well in print as it does on screen – built to last beyond the first skim.
